At the heart of Razorgirl Press is a burning desire to make sure that voices are heard. We recognize our limitations in this goal—we’re two white, cis women—but we are committed to amplifying as many diverse voices as we can.

Jonathan Larson, in his remarkable masterpiece RENT, wrote, “The opposite of war isn’t peace; it’s creation,” and we agree.

A large portion of our country has recently decided to promote the ideas of hate, exclusion, and oppression. In response to that, Razorgirl will be doubling down on our dedication to amplifying marginalized voices.

For the foreseeable future, Razorgirl will no longer be accepting submissions from white, cis, heterosexual, neurotypical, non-disabled men. We love our allies, but we feel that the best way we can fight the hatred and bigotry we see around us every day is by combatting hatred with love and destruction with creation. Preference will be given to authors representing their own community in their work, but all works by marginalized authors will be considered.

So send us your lesbian space cowgirls, your trans* vampires, your bipolar androids, and your autistic leaders of future rebellions. Help us raise our voices in response to hate and show them what we’re really made of.

Razorgirl has open submissions for novels in all genres running 70,000-150,000 words. We will also be looking at middle grade novels running 20,000-50,000 words. Keep an eye out for children’s book submissions soon!

Please submit manuscripts in standard manuscript format to aknaff {{at}} with the subject line “Submission: Title, Author Name.” Include a cover letter with a brief synopsis of your book as well as an introduction of yourself as an author and a human being!

Sign up for our newsletter! We promise not to spam you. Mostly we just let you know when a new book is in the works or if we’re going to be at a con.
